Royale Union Saint-Gilloise (Union SG) announced today that Alex Muzio has been appointed club Chairman.
In this role, Mr Muzio will oversee all developments at Union SG and will chair meetings of the club’s board of directors. The new CEO, who is currently being recruited, will report into Mr Muzio.
Mr Muzio is a minority co-shareholder in Union SG with Tony Bloom, and has close to 10% of the shareholding. He has a detailed knowledge of football, having worked for 12 years at leading football consultancy Starlizard, where his responsibilities include analysing data on teams and players.
Commenting on the appointment, club owner Tony Bloom said: “I have known Alex for many years as a business associate and friend. He is passionate about football and brings to Union SG an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the game that will be a tremendous benefit to the club.”
Mr Muzio said: “I am delighted to be appointed Chairman of Union SG. I will be doing all I can to help ensure a successful long-term future for the club on and off the pitch. I am thrilled we are moving back home to Stade Marien and look forward to many great days there.”
