Cercle comes to win at Duden Park

Union starts its Champions' Play-offs campaign with 0 points out of 6. After an early 0-2 deficit, it eventually became 2-3 for Cercle Brugge.

We are not used to it, two defeats in a row. But Union is starting the play-offs in dramatic fashion. And a false start against Cercle Brugge foreshadowed that second loss match in a row. After less than ten minutes, it was 0-2.

But even then you think: this is something we can put right. Unfortunately, Nilsson's goal just before half-time was not followed by an equaliser just after half-time. Although there were chances of course. But currently the ball is not falling well and we are also just not sharp enough on both sides of the pitch.

Somers cleverly scored the 1-3 on the counter and that completely cut our breath off fifteen minutes before time. Eckert Ayensa still mitigated in the closing stages, but not enough to even earn a point.

So it was not a resurrection after the defeat in Genk. But in the Play-offs, everything can change every weekend, also in a positive sense.

Sunday is derbyday again. We head to Lotto Park for the clash with Anderlecht. ALLEZ L'UNION !
